Nottingham Forest eyeing Marco Silva as Ange Postecoglou replacement

Nottingham Forest are interested in appointing Fulham boss Marco Silva as their new manager, amidst uncertainty around Ange Postecoglou’s future.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Nottingham Forest are plotting a raid on rivals Fulham for their manager, Marco Silva. The Tricky Trees have identified the Portuguese manager as an ideal Ange Postecoglou replacement.

After an impressive season under Nuno Espirito Santo last time out, where they finished in a European spot, Nottingham Forest have had quite a struggle in the new campaign. Following a poor start to the season, the Tricky Trees sacked Espirito Santo, who did not have the best of relationships with the owners.

The Midlands outfit brought in former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou to take his place in the team. While a lot was expected from the Europa League-winning manager, he has not been able to get them back on track. The Tricky Trees have lost all seven of their games under the new boss.

With results not going their way, the pressure has started to mount on Postecoglou. It has been just over a month since he took charge, but the Australian could still be sacked in the near future, with the team struggling.

Silva to replace Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest?

Evangelos Marinakis has a good relationship with the former Tottenham boss, but, in the end, the results are what truly matter. They have already identified Marco Silva as a potential replacement.

The former Everton manager took charge of the Cottagers in the EFL Championship, helped them secure promotion in his first season in charge, and has not looked back since. In their three seasons back in the top flight, they have finished 10th, 13th and 11th on the table.

While the Portuguese tactician has done wonders at Fulham, his future has become a big talking point as the former Everton boss is not pleased with the club’s recent transfer business, and his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Marco Silva led Olympiacos to the Greek title back in 2016, under Marinakis. The duo have maintained a great relationship ever since, and it could play a big role in his potential appointment. But getting him out of Fulham mid-season will not only cost a fortune, it won’t be that straightforward as well.
