Harry Kane open to signing Bayern Munich renewal

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Bayern Munich attacking mainstay Harry Kane.

Harry Kane’s future has been a massive talking point in recent weeks. The Bayern Munich attacker has been linked with a return to the Premier League. Tottenham have emerged as the front-runners for his signature.

While reports suggest he would only join Spurs if he were to leave the German club, his interest in a potential return seems to have gone down. The English international is now open to extending his stay at Bayern. Kane is ready to enter into potential renewal talks with the Bundesliga defending champions.

When asked about a potential return to England, he said: “In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know.

“If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

“Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.

“What I have learnt in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now I am fully all in with Bayern.”

A potential return to Spurs?

Last month, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank opened the door for a potential Kane return during one of his media conferences. Apart from Spurs, other top clubs are also interested in bringing him back. But the North London club seem to be the most serious suitor.

While Kane’s contract has a £67 million release clause starting January 2025, which drops to £54 million in January 2026, Spurs do have a ‘first option’. If any deal is agreed or the release clause is triggered, Tottenham will have the opportunity to match the bid. However, the final decision will be in the hands of the player.

A return to North London did sound realistic for once; however, Kane’s recent comments on the international break suggest he might not return to the Premier League. The 32-year-old suggested that he could soon sign a new deal with Bayern. The English skipper is open to a potential renewal, and it might be just a matter of time.

Kane on his long-term future

While talking about his future, Kane further added: “In terms of staying longer (at Bayern), I could definitely see that,”

“I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

“Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.”

“If it happens, it happens. I don’t think there is any need to rush anything on both parts. Obviously, we are only two months into the season. If there is going to be an extension, it has to work for everyone and it has to have a clear vision on where we see the club.

“Personally, I don’t want to rush into anything. The conversation I am sure will be one we have and then we will go from there.

“I am extremely happy there, my wife and kids are happy to stay and as you get older that a big part of any decision you make.

“But, as always, you never know what is around the corner. I am not going to put my eggs in any basket. I am going to enjoy what I am doing and right now that is at Bayern Munich, definitely for this season and probably next season that is going to be the way.”

A new deal at Bayern is loading

Kane still has two years left on his deal, and he is certainly in no rush to commit to his long-term. The 32-year-old wants to assess all the options at his disposal before making a final call. However, he is certainly open to negotiating fresh terms with Bayern Munich.

For now, he is fully focused on doing his best for the German club. He has made a sensational start to the new season with 19 goals for club and country. The English skipper is eager to add to his trophy cabinet, and if he continues in similar fashion, Bayern will certainly consider tying him down to a new and improved deal.
