Barcelona rival Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham in Harry Kane race, player stance revealed
Barcelona are all set to battle Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham for the signature of Bayern Munich ace Harry Kane.
According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham are all keen on acquiring the services of Harry Kane and would pounce on any opportunity to add the England skipper to their squad.
Kane has only gone from strength to strength since joining Bayern in the summer of 2023. He recently became the fastest player to score 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues, when he reached the landmark in his 104th game for the German giants.
The 32-year-old went past Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, who were joint holders of the record. Kane seems to be loving life at Bayern. He is scoring goals for fun and is able to compete for all major honours thanks to their star-studded team.
While his contract runs until 2027 and he seems happy at the club, Kane’s future has been a big talking point of late, amidst reports of a £56.7 million release clause in his contract, which will be active next summer.
Kane could choose to leave
While taking on the Insider Track podcast, O’Rourke said: “For Kane right now, he’s having a good time at Bayern Munich, scoring plenty of goals and competing for trophies.
“He would want to go to a club that’s going to give him the opportunity to be successful and win more trophies and honours as well.
“I’m sure Tottenham will be in the mix if he decides to leave Bayern, but they’re going to face a lot of competition for him and it won’t be straightforward.
“It won’t just be other Premier League clubs, the likes of Chelsea and Man United who have been long-term admirers, but Barcelona as well.
“If Kane does leave Bayern Munich next summer, there will be no shortage of offers, and he will want to be successful and playing at the highest level possible.”
European giants to battle for Kane
If Kane decides to try a new challenge, there won’t be any shortage of interest. Former club Tottenham will be the first to make a move. They retain interest in him, and their manager, Thomas Frank, would pounce on any opportunity to bring him back.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been put on red alert as Kane is a long-term target for both English giants. While both clubs have invested heavily in the final third in the recent window, they would still push hard to sign the England captain if he becomes available.
Barcelona are also keen on his signature, and they are ready to rival all three English clubs as they consider him an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract at the club is running out. While the finances involved will make things tricky, they do have a strong pull and can hand him the opportunity to compete for all major titles.
While Tottenham have first refusal to re-sign Kane should he choose to leave, the final call will depend on the English striker, who will most likely prefer joining a club that can help him fulfil his lofty ambitions.
