Flamengo, Palmeiras keen on Casemiro, player wants Sao Paulo move

Flamengo and Palmeiras are keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who has his heart set on a return to Sao Paulo.

Casemiro is expected to part ways with Manchester United in 2026, and he could be heading back to Brazil. Flamengo, Palmeiras and Sao Paulo are all keen on his signature, but according to Ekrem Konur, the former Real Madrid superstar has his heart set on a return to his childhood club.

The Brazilian international came up the ranks at Sao Paulo and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Real Madrid. He eventually went on to establish himself as one of their mainstays and won it all with the Spanish giants.

He ended up making the move to Manchester United in the summer of 2022 in search of a new challenge. He had an exceptional debut campaign, but struggled to maintain the consistency. After losing his spot in the starting XI, Casemiro worked his way back into Ruben Amorim’s plans towards the end of last season.

The 33-year-old has been a constant feature in their Premier League XI this season under the Portuguese manager. While he had multiple offers to leave the club in the summer, the Brazilian wanted to continue in England, as he was keen on heading to the World Cup in the best possible way.

Casemiro to return to Brazil in 2026?

Casemiro is unlikely to leave the club mid-season, but he will most likely part ways with United next summer upon the expiry of his contract. While Saudi Pro League clubs will certainly try to tempt him, the former Real Madrid midfielder could be heading back to Brazil.

Flamengo and Palmeiras are both keen on signing the veteran midfielder as they look to bolster their midfield. They are preparing bids for the 33-year-old, but it seems Sao Paulo will have a massive advantage in the race for his signature.

They are keen on bringing him back to the club, and he has his heart set on a return. Emotional ties with his childhood club and his wage demands will have a massive say on where he ends up playing his football in 2026.
