Chelsea, Barcelona interested in Ian Subiabre, player sounded out

Chelsea and Barcelona are ready to battle it out for the signature of River Plate attacking sensation Ian Subiabre.

According to a report from River Noticias, Chelsea and Barcelona are both keen on signing Ian Subiabre, who has made quite a name for himself with his sensational rise at River Plate. While the European giants are ready to battle for his signature and have already sounded out a move, the Argentine outfit are pushing to renew his contract to secure his future.

Subiabre has come up the ranks at River Plate. He got promoted to their first team at the start of 2024 and has only gone from strength to strength since. The 18-year-old winger has featured in a total of 19 matches for the senior side and has even contributed towards two goals.

His performances at the youth level for both club and country have caught the attention of multiple top clubs. While he is relatively new to the senior setup, he has made an impressive start, and European clubs are already gearing up to prise him away.

European giants to battle for Subiabre

Barcelona and Chelsea are two giants that want to snap up the Argentine youth international. The Blues are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential, and they consider Subiabre an ideal fit for their project.

Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are also looking for opportunities to sign top talents at a very young age as they look to build for the future. They consider the Argentine winger a special player and do not want to miss out on him.

River Plate do not want to lose Subiabre

Both clubs are ready to battle for his signature and have already made an informal approach to try to sign him. While less than 18 months are left on his contract, River Plate are aware that they will struggle to keep hold of him.

As a result, they are trying to renew his contract, and it is one of the major objectives for Marcelo Gallardo’s team. The management is putting pressure on the youngster to put pen to paper and commit his future to the club.

They have been working on a potential renewal for several weeks and are ready to offer him a new deal with improved wages, and are looking to add a higher release clause. However, they are yet to convince the player and his representatives about a potential renewal.
