Aston Villa not considering Unai Emery sacking yet
Aston Villa reportedly have no intentions of parting ways with Unai Emery despite the disappointing start to the new season.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Unai Emery will not be shown the exit door anytime soon. The Spanish manager remains an integral part of the club’s plans moving forward, and there are no intentions of sacking him. There is believed to be no desire for a change in the hot seat at Aston Villa.
Emery took charge of the Birmingham-based club towards the end of 2022, when they were struggling for survival in the top flight. The 53-year-old has completely transformed the team and helped establish them as genuine contenders for European spots.
Prior to Emery’s arrival at the club, Aston Villa last featured in a European competition back in 2011 under Martin O’Neil. Under the former Villarreal manager, the Villans were involved in the Conference League back in the 2023/24 season. Last season, they made it to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and they will be competing in the Europa League this time around.
Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens went all-in to appoint Unai Emery as their manager, and it has certainly paid off. The Spaniard was handed significant control over his backroom staff and other aspects of the club, with his position only growing stronger with each passing season.
Unai Emery is going nowhere
The 53-year-old has the unwavering support of the Aston Villa owners, and a few poor results won’t result in question marks over his future at the club. Unai Emery is an integral part of the club, and things will have to get a lot worse for Villa to consider parting ways with him.
The Birmingham-based club are off to a disastrous start in the league, having failed to win any of their first four games (2 draws, 2 defeats). Things went from bad to worse when they got knocked out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Brentford.
While it is certainly one of their worst starts in recent seasons, these results have not put any pressure on Unai Emery. The former Villarreal boss has the full backing of the club, and they are not even thinking about sacking the former Arsenal boss.
