Al-Nassr retain Casemiro interest, player tempted by move

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr are reportedly interested in signing 33-year-old Brazilian international Casemiro from Manchester United next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Casemiro is the subject of interest of Al-Nassr. The big-spending Saudi Pro League giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder next year. So, the 33-year-old Manchester United is a target for the Knights of Najd, with the veteran midfielder also open to a move.

Casemiro and his Manchester United spell so far

Casemiro has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid in a deal worth £70 million, including add-ons, in August 2022. The experienced midfielder hit the ground running at Old Trafford and was a pivotal figure in a memorable 2022/23 campaign, which yielded the EFL Cup and a top-four finish.

However, since then, the 33-year-old has struggled to remain consistent in the middle of the park, and he has started showing signs of age catching up with him. Things have improved under Ruben Amorim, who has preferred pairing the former Real Madrid midfielder with Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park. However, it is clear that the veteran cannot be the first-choice midfielder for a long time.

The Brazilian midfielder has made 129 appearances thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with 17 goals and 12 assists. However, the player’s long-term future at Manchester United is uncertain, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, including Al-Nassr.

Saudi move on the horizon?

Al-Nassr wanted to sign Casemiro in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to materialise. While the transfer window remains open in Saudi Arabia for a few more days, the Manchester United midfielder has no interest in departing from Old Trafford in favour of a move to Al-Nassr.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is eager to see out his contract with Manchester United, and regular football in the Premier League may help his cause heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, this summer’s snubbing has not deterred Al-Nassr, with the big-spending Saudi Pro League giants still interested in the Manchester United veteran.

The report has claimed that Al-Nassr will return with a bid to sign the 33-year-old Brazilian international next year. This time, the Saudi Pro League outfit may succeed, as the possibility of moving to the country after his Manchester United deal expires tempts him.
