Chelsea prioritising 2026 move for Marc Guehi

Chelsea are interested in re-signing Marc Guehi in 2026, and it will be interesting to see if they can bring him back to the club.

Marc Guehi was heavily linked with a move away from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window, but Liverpool failed to get a deal done despite a £35 million agreement with the Eagles. The Englishman completed a medical with the Premier League champions as well, but Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute after failing to secure a quality replacement for their captain.

The Englishman is in the final year of his contract, and he will be a free agent in the summer of 2026. Chelsea are hoping to snap him up on a bargain when his contract expires, as per Fichajes. It will be interesting to see if they can get a deal done.

According to the report, the Blues are ready to bring their former academy ace back to the club, identifying him as a priority target. It is no secret that they need defensive reinforcements. They have looked vulnerable at the back, and players like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi have no future at the club.

Guehi would improve Chelsea

Guehi would be a tremendous upgrade on Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi. The English international is one of the best defenders in the Premier League right now, and he has proven himself with Crystal Palace. He has helped them win the FA Cup and the Community Shield. There is no doubt that he has the quality to compete at a higher level.

The 25-year-old will look to join a bigger club in the near future. Guehi is at the peak of his career, and he will hope to play for a club where he will be able to compete in the UEFA Champions League regularly and fight for trophies.

Returning to his boyhood club could be ideal for him. The Englishman might feel that he has unfinished business at Chelsea, and therefore, rejoining the London club will be quite exciting for him. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to renew their interest in the player and come back for him in the coming months. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The player has been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid as well. However, both teams are well-stocked in the central defensive unit. They might not be able to offer him regular game time, and the player is unlikely to be attracted to the idea of sitting on the bench at a big club.
