Everton face Tottenham competition for 2026 Jack Grealish move
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Everton to sign 30-year-old English international Jack Grealish from Manchester City in next summer’s transfer window.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Jack Grealish is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit next summer after failing to sign a long-term replacement for Son Heung-min. So, the 30-year-old Manchester City misfit has emerged as a target for the North London club.
However, Tottenham will have no chance of beating Everton to the Englishman’s signature if the Toffees trigger the purchase option worth £50 million in the loan agreement with Manchester City. But the North London outfit may have a window of opportunity, as the Merseyside outfit will attempt to reduce the fee for a permanent deal for Grealish next summer.
Jack Grealish and his renaissance
Jack Grealish has seen his stuttering fortunes improve since completing a season-long loan move to Everton. The 30-year-old struggled to find a stable footing after joining Manchester City from Aston Villa in a big-money move four years ago. So, it was hardly surprising that the Citizens wanted to sell him this past summer.
While a permanent exit did not materialise, Grealish has boosted his stock and Manchester City’s prospects for next summer after an electric start to life as an Everton player. The English international has four assists in only 287 minutes of game time in four Premier League outings for the Merseyside club. However, while Everton may seek a permanent move next year, they will face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
Will Tottenham beat Everton to Grealish’s signature?
Everton’s interest in a permanent move for Jack Grealish is understandable. The Manchester City misfit has hit the ground running under David Moyes, with the former Manchester United manager bringing the best out of the ex-Aston Villa captain. With Grealish fitting like a glove at Everton, a permanent stay will benefit him and the Merseyside club.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min left a gaping hole in the offensive unit at the North London club after moving to MLS in the summer transfer window. While the Lilywhites bolstered their offensive unit by signing Xavi Simons, a wide attacker like Grealish will also suit Thomas Frank’s system.
However, while Tottenham will be an attractive destination for the 30-year-old Englishman, the final decision is in Everton’s hands. But with the Merseyside club eager to secure a deal under £50 million, Tottenham may have a window of opportunity. Meanwhile, the Manchester City misfit is also a target for Napoli, and the battle for his signature should be intriguing.
