Liverpool front-runners to sign Michael Olise, price tag revealed

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are leading the race for the signature of Bayer Munich attacking sensation Michael Olise.

Michael Olise could be heading back to the Premier League as Liverpool are keen on his signature. Multiple top clubs want to sign the former Crystal Palace star, but according to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Merseyside club are front-runners at this stage.

Olise made a name for himself while playing for the Eagles. During his three-year-long stint at Selhurst Park, he went from strength to strength and was considered one of the most exciting young talents in England.

His impressive rise caught the attention of multiple top clubs, but Bayer Munich managed to win the race. The German giants forked out £50.8 million to acquire his services, and he has already established himself as one of their mainstays.

The 23-year-old had a phenomenal debut campaign as he finished with 20 goals and 23 assists in his 55 outings. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, as top clubs now want to prise him away from Bayern. While there is no shortage of interest, O’Rourke has suggested Liverpool are the ones leading the race.

O’Rourke on Olise’s future

The Football Insider transfer correspondent said: “It’s more than just Liverpool who will be looking at Michael Olise – his career is just going up and up”,

“All top European clubs will be interested in Michael Olise, he’s not going to be easy one to get out of Bayern though.

“He’s under contract at the German club until 2029 and Bayern Munich won’t want to lose him, you’re talking huge money to get him out of there. You’d be looking at £100million for Bayern [to sell him].”

Olise could replace Salah at Liverpool

Olise’s contract at Bayern runs until the summer of 2029, and they have no intentions of sanctioning his departure. The Bundesliga giants have slapped a massive £100 million price tag on the 23-year-old, which means a potential move will ensure they double their investment.

While the price tag is certainly on the higher side, given the potential of the player, it could increase further if he continues to perform in a similar fashion. The Reds have already spent a fortune on transfers this summer, but they could once again break the bank to sign Olise as they consider him an ideal replacement for their star, Mohamed Salah.

The 33-year-old did pen a new deal that runs until the summer of 2027, but he could choose to walk away next summer amidst strong interest from the Middle East. If he does end up leaving, the Reds could go all out to bring Olise back to the club.
