Lamine Yamal reveals advice from Hansi Flick – “He tells me not to lose my…”
Over the last two years, Lamine Yamal has developed into one of the best footballers in the world at Barcelona. The 18-year-old has been in sensational form since making his senior debut, and over the last 12 months, he has notably risen his level by a significant margin – and with that, he has developed a strong character that has not gone unnoticed.
And when speaking to MD, Lamine Yamal was asked about this, and whether he felt it was necessary to his game.
“In elite football it is very important to trust yourself and have character. Always with humility, but knowing that if you are there it is because you have the level to compete. I work a little bit in both ways. At La Masia they always taught us to be mentally prepared, and I also have professionals who help me. It is fundamental.”

Lamine Yamal also discussed with relationship with Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, who has been a father figure for him since the 55-year-old took over from Xavi Hernandez in the summer of 2024.
“I talk to him a lot. He gives me a lot of confidence and tells me to enjoy myself, to be brave and not lose my essence of the game. That gives me a lot of peace of mind when it comes to going out and playing.”
Lamine Yamal: Spotify Camp Nou return “will give a big boost”
Barcelona are still working on a return to the Spotify Camp Nou as soon as possible, although it is unlikely to happen this month. Nevertheless, Lamine Yamal spoke on playing again at the stadium, where he made his debut at the age of 15.
“I imagine it full of fans and it will be a spectacular stadium. I was very lucky to make my debut at the Camp Nou before the renovation began and I think that playing there again will give us a big boost to compete.”
