Turkish Super Lig outfit Besiktas will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old Italian international Federico Chiesa from Liverpool in the final days of the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Liverpool Echo, Federico Chiesa is the subject of interest of Besiktas. The Black Eagles are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, the 27-year-old Liverpool winger has emerged as a target for the Turkish Super Lig outfit.

The latest update comes after Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport revealed that Besiktas established contact over a possible move before Friday’s summer transfer window deadline in Turkiye. However, with Liverpool unwilling to part ways with Chiesa, the Turkish Super Lig outfit must look elsewhere for a new wide attacker.

Federico Chiesa and his struggles

Federico Chiesa has been a peripheral figure since joining Liverpool from Juventus in a deal worth £10 million last summer. While the 27-year-old did not cost much, he barely made his mark and could not even complete 500 minutes of game time across 14 appearances for Liverpool, managing only two goals and two assists.

However, Chiesa may feel he can turn things around at Anfield after scoring the match-winning goal against Bournemouth in Gameweek 1 of the 2025/26 season. Even though Arne Slot has praised the Italian international for his resolve, that may not translate into regular action, as the Italian international has managed only 29 minutes of game time in three outings.

The improving fortunes did not deter prospective suitors, as AS Roma attempted a late move for Federico Chiesa before the Giallorossi ran out of time. However, with the summer transfer window still open in Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, a departure from Anfield is still possible after Arne Slot omitted the former Fiorentina attacker from Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League squad.

Besiktas will attempt a late move for Chiesa before Friday’s deadline, establishing contact over a possible deal. However, Liverpool will not entertain any bids to part ways with the former Juventus attacker, who will spend the 2025/26 season with the Merseyside club.
