FC Utrecht computer servers overload due to European ticket demand

It hasn’t just been Vitesse’s website that has struggled with online traffic this week, as Utrecht’s servers crashed as fans rushed for European tickets.

Utrecht’s European tickets went on sale at 10 am on Tuesday morning. At times, the site was overloaded, and this led to problems ordering tickets. Nevertheless, all passes for regular sale were sold out by one o’clock in the afternoon.

Utrecht season ticket holders have until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 16th to purchase a package that includes all four home matches in this season’s Europa League. Unsold passes will go on sale starting Wednesday, September 17th, at 9:30 am.

The Domstedelingen will play in a European main tournament for the first time since 2010. Ron Jans’ team survived three qualifying rounds after finishing fourth in the Eredivisie last season. This schedule includes some impressive home matches against Olympique Lyon, FC Porto, Nottingham Forest, and KRC Genk.
