Andre Onana attracting transfer interest from Turkiye, Saudi Pro League this summer
Turkish and Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana this summer.
According to a report from TBR, Andre Onana could still end up parting ways with Manchester United this summer, amidst interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. While the transfer window in England is over, it still remains open in both countries, making a move very likely.
United signed Onana in the summer of 2023. They forked out a significant fee to sign him from Inter Milan. While they had a lot of expectations from the 29-year-old, he has failed to live up to them. His performances haven’t pleased Ruben Amorim, and he has gone down the pecking order.
Altay Bayindir has started all three of their Premier League games, and with United signing Senne Lammens on deadline day, there are high chances of Onana being their number 3 going forward.
The Cameroonian international was made aware of the fact that they would sign a new shot-stopper this summer. He was even asked to look for a new club. While he couldn’t secure an exit before the deadline in the majority of the European countries, Onana could still be on his way out.
Onana could leave United in the coming days
While a loan move looked the most likely outcome, recent reports suggest he could even secure a permanent exit amidst interest from a number of clubs in Turkiye and Saudi Arabia. Super Lig giants Galatasaray have shown interest in the 29-year-old.
Meanwhile, interest from the Middle East continues to grow with each passing day. Al-Shabab are keen on his signature, and they do have room to make another foreign signing. Al-Ittihad are also interested, but they will have to move someone out before making a move.
Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are both considering replacing their current foreign goalkeepers and could knock on United’s door. With the transfer window in Saudi Arabia open until the 10th and in Turkiye until the 11th, it will be interesting to see if Onana secures a move away.
