Real Madrid line up Bosman move for Marc Guehi

Real Madrid are reportedly keen to lure Marc Guehi on a Bosman move next summer, which could prove to be a problem for Liverpool.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are considering a move for Marc Guehi in 2026 on a free transfer. The Spanish giants are no strangers to luring some of the top talents on a Bosman move, and their next pursuit of the Crystal Palace star could spell trouble for front-runners Liverpool.

Liverpool ended the transfer deadline day first by signing Alexander Isak in a British record deal, and then came very close to luring in Marc Guehi. The move for the English centre-back failed after Crystal Palace failed to find a replacement in time, which has now complicated matters for the Merseysiders.

As things stand, Liverpool are still the favourites for their 25-year-old summer target, and are widely expected to return with a fresh approach in January. With the player being keen to make that switch on deadline day, the wider expectation will suggest they will probably find it easy in January to get a deal done; however, there are challenges ahead.

For starters, Marc Guehi staying at Crystal Palace will spark debates about whether they are better off keeping him for the whole season rather than selling him on a cut-price deal in January. Secondly, Liverpool are not expected to be alone in the race nor have a straightforward path towards the defender, then, as Guehi already has plenty of other suitors thinking about signing him.

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested, and now Real Madrid have entered the race for the 25-year-old defender. The Spanish giants held an interest in the summer, and they may not have wanted to pay a big fee to lure him in. However, they are no strangers to luring players on a free transfer, as seen recently and in the past with some high-profile stars.

Real Madrid are angling for a move for Marc Guehi

Real Madrid are preparing a top draw team based on Xabi Alonso’s specifications, and that system requires strong defenders in a back-three system. The Spanish giants secured Dean Huijsen during the summer, and have set their sights on Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, who is also in the final year of his deal.

Real Madrid are now considering the prospect of making an offer as soon as January for Marc Guehi to make their presence felt in the race. Signing two top defenders on the cheap or practically on a free transfer from the Premier League would align with their plans and spell trouble for Liverpool in their efforts to land their 25-year-old summer target.
