Chelsea prioritising 2026 move for Morgan Rogers
Chelsea could prioritise a move for Morgan Rogers in 2026 as they are very much interested in the Aston Villa mainstay for the long-term future.
According to TBR, Chelsea could prioritise a move for Morgan Rogers, probably next summer, as they are keen to bring the Aston Villa mainstay as their long-term option in the attack. The Birmingham-based side’s exorbitant price point might have helped ward off suitors before the transfer deadline, as there are doubts whether they will be able to keep hold of him long term.
Morgan Rogers was one of the ongoing subjects of discussions during the window, as the Aston Villa star was widely tipped for big interest. Unai Emery’s side did well to keep hold of him alongside most of their key stars before the deadline as some teams were keeping close tabs on his situation.
Villa are not worried and even placed a big price tag to ward off suitors, which the report states as £100 million. Tottenham were interested in the latter stages of the window as they missed out on Eberechi Eze and other names like Nico Paz.
Chelsea pondered a late move for Rogers after cooling the pursuit of Xavi Simons, who eventually joined Tottenham. The Blues wanted a new attacking midfielder and ended up signing Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton on a season-long loan deal.
The Blues have not given up on the £100 million-rated Aston Villa star as things stand, as they ponder returning for Rogers in 2026. That would most probably be next summer, as Emery’s side are unlikely to entertain any offers midway through the season.
Chelsea views Morgan Rogers as a key target
Chelsea had shown plenty of interest in Rogers during the summer, but they have somewhat conceded that only a future move could be possible. The £100 million-rated Aston Villa star will certainly carry a huge price tag, something the Blues might be willing to invest in as they have done so previously on many of their existing stars.
They could potentially view him as a long-term option in the attacking midfield position, meaning Buonanotte could return to Brighton next summer. He could come in at Stamford Bridge and compete for a place or play alongside his close friend and former Manchester City academy teammate Cole Palmer, which would make Chelsea a formidable force.
