Valencia reach agreement to sign Liverpool star
La Liga outfit Valencia have early this week tied up a transfer agreement with their counterparts at Premier League heavyweights Liverpool. This comes as Harvey Elliott prepares to take his talents to Spain for the season ahead.
The name of attacking midfielder Elliott emerged as something of a surprise one in the Spanish media headlines late last week.
Deemed surplus to requirements by the Liverpool coaching staff following a disastrous loan stint with Aston Villa last time out, the Englishman was earmarked as a late-window target by the board at the aforementioned Valencia.
Los Che, in turn, opened discussions with their Anfield counterparts over the terms of a season-long loan deal for Elliott, through next summer.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, these talks have borne fruit for club and player alike. As per a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano:
‘Valencia reach verbal agreement to sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool, here we go! Majority of salary covered and deal agreed with Elliott set for La Liga switch.’
