Tottenham Hotspur ready to return for Morgan Gibbs-White
Tottenham are ready to explore a move for Mogan Gibbs-White again in the January window after being frustrated by Nottingham Forest in the summer.
According to Caught Offside, Tottenham could consider returning for Morgan Gibbs-White when the January window opens. The attacking midfielder was very close to joining Spurs, who were then frustrated by Nottingham Forest in the pursuit, as the north Londoners could test the waters with a fresh approach in the winter market.
Morgan Gibbs-White was a big talking point midway through he summer window amid all the controversy surrounding his proposed move to Tottenham. The north Londoners began the pursuit of the 25-year-old summer target after agreeing a move for West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.
Tottenham triggered a supposed release clause in his contract and found an agreement for Gibbs-White. However, the events in the next days turned out to be crucial from Nottingham Forest’s point of view as Spurs were dealt a blow, as the deal stalled.
Forest threatened legal action over the sourcing of information on the release clause, and had they followed through, the matter would have dragged on for months. Gibbs-White ended up signing a new deal with the club, with the current agreement lasting until 2028, which silenced speculation for the duration of the summer window.
Spurs have since missed out on a few key targets following their failure to land Gibbs-White. They came close to signing Eberechi Eze before he joined Arsenal, although Tottenham agreed a deal for Xavi Simons, following Chelsea’s decision to end the pursuit of the Dutchman.
Tottenham could return for Morgan Gibbs-White
Tottenham may have signed Simons, but they are still keen on signing Gibbs-White in the future. The report states that they could return for the 25-year-old summer target as soon as January and test the waters with a fresh approach.
The report states a 65-70 million bid might be deemed enough to tempt Forest into a sale, although things could be more complicated than that. Forest will be in the Europa League, and should they feel a chance to win the competition as well as doing well in the league, there’s no chance they will entertain any bids for Gibbs-White.
