Aston Villa could hijack Bayern Munich move for Nicolas Jackson

Aston Villa will look to steal a march on Bayern Munich in the battle for 24-year-old Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson, who wants to join the Bundesliga champions this summer.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Nicolas Jackson is the subject of interest from Aston Villa again. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Chelsea forward is a target for the West Midlands outfit.

The African attacker has been on the cusp of joining Bayern Munich after the Bavarian outfit struck an agreement with Chelsea over a loan deal. However, the Blues have recalled Jackson and cancelled his move after Liam Delap picked up a hamstring injury. While the former Villarreal striker is pushing to join Bayern Munich, the situation has compelled Aston Villa to sense an opportunity to hijack the move by offering a permanent arrangement to Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson and his Chelsea frustrations

Nicolas Jackson will get a feeling of injustice after Chelsea cancelled the loan deal they agreed with Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old already knew he had no future at Stamford Bridge after the West London outfit signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro earlier in the summer transfer window despite his impressive performances in the last two seasons.

The Senegalese international has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 30 goals and 12 assists. However, with Jackson having no future at Stamford Bridge, he was ready to embark on a new adventure. Bayern Munich won the battle for his signature before Chelsea cancelled the loan deal. The situation has piqued Aston Villa’s attention.

What next fir Jackson?

Bayern Munich’s interest in Nicolas Jackson makes sense. The Bavarian giants need a new attacker after offloading several offensive players in the summer transfer window. Additionally, Vincent Kompany must sign a backup for Harry Kane, making the Chelsea striker a viable target for Bayern Munich. However, while Jackson was on the cusp of sealing a season-long loan move to the Allianz Arena, the Blues have cancelled the deal.

As for Aston Villa, Unai Emery is keen on reuniting with Jackson after their time together at Villarreal. The Villans need more firepower in the final third, and the Chelsea outcast has emerged as an option worth considering for the West Midlands outfit. Aston Villa may offer a permanent deal to tempt Chelsea, even though Liam Delap’s hamstring injury has left Enzo Maresca short-staffed in the final third.

However, Jackson is still keen on joining Bayern Munich, having been reluctant to return to Chelsea on Saturday. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old Senegalese international.
