Aston Villa looking to hijack Brentford move for Maximilian Beier

Aston Villa will reportedly look to beat Brentford in the race to sign 22-year-old German international Maximilian Beier from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Maximilian Beier is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the final days of the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.

The Brandenburg an der Havel native is also a target for Brentford, with the West London club aiming to replace the Borussia Dortmund striker with the Newcastle United-linked Yoane Wissa. However, the Bundesliga giants are unsure about parting ways with Beier, even though they want over £40 million to consider selling him in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Maximilian Beier and his Borussia Dortmund rollercoaster

Maximilian Beier has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Borussia Dortmund from TSG Hoffenheim last summer. The 22-year-old was among the most highly rated attackers in the Bundesliga when he moved to Signal Iduna Park. However, the youngster has not progressed as well as he would have liked.

Additionally, Beier’s stock has fallen, and he did not feature in the Bundesliga opener last week. Nevertheless, the German international has a market, and an adventure in the Premier League may be on the cards for the young striker. Aston Villa and Brentford are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Aston Villa’s interest in Maximilian Beier is understandable. The Villans are keen on signing a versatile attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down. The desire has likely stemmed from the failure to re-sign Marcus Rashford, and Beier is a like-for-like alternative to the English international. However, several other candidates, including Nicolas Jackson, are also on Aston Villa’s radar.

As for Brentford, the Bees remain in a spot of bother over Yoane Wissa’s long-term future. The DR Congo international is a target for Newcastle United, with the Tyneside outfit yet to throw in the towel in the battle for his services. So, Beier has been a target for Brentford. However, Aston Villa’s entry into the picture complicates matters, as the Villans have established contact over a late move for the Borussia Dortmund striker.

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga giants are undecided on Beier’s future, although they will demand over £40 million to part ways with him in the final days of the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 22-year-old German international.
