Borussia Dortmund confident of signing Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino
German giants Borussia Dortmund are confident of completing the signings of Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino next week.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino are expected to join Borussia Dortmund next week. The German club have been working hard to strike agreements with Chelsea and now have everything in place to get the deals over the line.
After making a name for himself at Aston Villa, Chukwuemeka joined the Blues in the summer of 2022. Despite his massive potential, the 21-year-old midfielder has failed to establish himself in the first team.
He struggled for minutes during the first half of last season and ended up joining Dortmund on a short loan in the winter. He was involved in 17 matches for the German club and put in a few impressive performances.
While Chukwuemeka is back at his parent club and still has three years left on his deal, he is no longer a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans. With the Blues ready to sell, Dortmund have been working on a potential transfer.
The player is keen on securing a return to the German club, and after long-drawn negotiations, Dortmund finally have an agreement in place with the Blues. They are set to pay €20 million up front, along with add-ons that haven’t been disclosed.
Chelsea duo to join Dortmund by Monday
Alongside Chukwuemeka, Aaron Anselmino is also set to join Dortmund. The 20-year-old defender arrived at Stamford Bridge earlier this year from Boca Juniors. While highly rated and part of Chelsea’s long-term plans, he was unlikely to get sufficient minutes under Enzo Maresca this season.
As a result, the Blues opted to send him out on loan. Dortmund, always alert to such opportunities and eager to strengthen their backline, quickly opened talks with Chelsea. An agreement has been reached on a loan deal without any buy option.
During negotiations, Chelsea made it clear that in order for Dortmund to secure Anselmino on loan, they would have to sign Chukwuemeka permanently. With Chukwuemeka’s transfer now close to completion, Anselmino’s move is also set to go through. Dortmund are confident of finalising both deals by Monday.
