West Ham United offer four-year contract to Lorenzo Pellegrini

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old Italian international Lorenzo Pellegrini from Serie A club AS Roma in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Lorenzo Pellegrini is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder and have set their sights on the AS Roma veteran. They have offered a four-year contract to the Italian international, and his departure will only bring a nominal fee for the Serie A outfit.

Lorenzo Pellegrini and his situation

Lorenzo Pellegrini has reached a crossroads in his career after entering the final 12 months of his contract with AS Roma. The Rome native spent his formative years in his home city before graduating from the youth division at AS Roma. However, he had to bide his time before establishing a foothold at his boyhood club, having first risen in prominence during his spell at Sassuolo.

The 29-year-old has turned out over 300 times thus far for AS Roma while chipping in with 55 goals and 59 assists. Pellegrini has also served the Giallorossi as the club captain since Edin Dzeko departed from Stadio Olimpico. However, the experienced midfielder has been inconsistent in recent seasons, and he has no future at the Seire A club after losing the captaincy.

However, the Italian midfielder’s stock in the market is reasonably high, with several Premier League clubs setting their sights on him. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Lorenzo Pellegrini is understandable. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit before the summer transfer window shuts down. While Carlos Soler has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after a dreadful loan spell in the 2024/25 season, Edson Alvarez is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce.

Meanwhile, Guido Rodriguez faces an uncertain future at West Ham after an underwhelming debut season with the East London outfit. So, Pellegrini has emerged as a viable target, with recent reports claiming he is open to joining West Ham United. The latest report has revealed that the Hammers have offered him a four-year contract with £4 million-a-year wages.

Meanwhile, AS Roma will receive a nominal fee when they part ways with the 29-year-old Italian international, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract; it will be interesting to see if Pellegrini accepts West Ham’s contract offer.
