Tottenham line up €80 million bid to sign Savinho
Tottenham are ready to fork out €80 million to sign Manchester City winger Savinho following Eberechi Eze blow.
Tottenham were keen on acquiring the services of Eberechi Eze, having reached an agreement with Crystal Palace and coming close to sealing the deal, but rivals Arsenal hijacked it at the very end.
With Eze now joining the Gunners, Spurs have shifted their focus entirely to Savinho. The North London club are preparing an improved offer for the Manchester City winger after their initial bid was deemed insufficient. According to a report from Globo Esporte, Tottenham are preparing an €80 million offer to convince Pep Guardiola’s team to sell one of their most exciting young players.
Savinho joined the Manchester-based giants last summer and had an impressive debut campaign. While he was more of a rotational option for Guardiola, he managed to earn the trust of the Spanish manager with his exceptional performances.
The 21-year-old was involved in 48 matches across competitions, and he finished with three goals and 13 assists. His performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. While City are not actively pushing to offload him, they could let him leave for the right price. His departure could actually help them secure the services of Real Madrid ace Rodrygo Goes.
Tottenham step up their pursuit of Savinho
Tottenham are front-runners for Savinho’s signature. While their priority was to sign Eze, they have missed out on the Crystal Palace ace. He was expected to replace Son Heung-min, who has left for the MLS and could have also helped cope with James Maddison’s absence, as he is out injured.
With Eze joining Arsenal, Spurs are set to go all out to sign Savinho, as he could be the answer to quite a few of their problems in the final third. While their initial bid was turned down, Tottenham are now preparing an €80 million offer. They could soon formalise it, and with the player keen on joining them, they are hoping to get it over the line.
Savinho prefers moving to Spurs, as he will have a prominent role there and could then try to make his way into the Brazil squad for next summer’s World Cup. The player’s representatives are in London, mediating talks, but City are playing hardball, and it certainly won’t be that straightforward a deal for Thomas Frank’s team.
