Official | Pierre Sage appointed Lens manager

RC Lens have appointed Pierre Sage as their new manager. The former Olympique Lyonnais head coach succeeds Will Still in the role.

Lens have been without a manager since the final day of the Ligue 1 season, when Still shocked journalists by announcing his departure after just one season at the helm. He has since taken the job at Southampton. Just over two weeks after his departure, Lens have named his successor – Sage.

It is the Frenchman’s first job since his sacking as manager of Lyon at the start of the year. With the chances of UEFA Champions League qualification slipping away, Paulo Fonseca was brought in at OL. Despite a brief uptick, the Portuguese manager failed to get Lyon into the top four.

The likes of USL Dunkerque’s Luís Castro and EA Guingamp’s Sylvain Ripoll had been linked with the job, however, Sage has now signed on the dotted line. His contract runs until 2028.
