Chelsea want Jadon Sancho to reduce wages for summer move
Chelsea will reportedly tell Manchester United flop Jadon Sancho to accept lower wages to seal a permanent deal worth £25 million in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Jadon Sancho faces an uncertain future heading into the summer transfer window. Chelsea can seal a permanent deal for the Manchester United flop by coughing up £25 million. However, the Blues also have the option to send the English international back to Old Trafford by paying a penalty of £5 million.
Meanwhile, the West London giants are ready to seal a permanent deal worth £25 million for Sancho. However, Chelsea will tell the Englishman to accept reduced wages to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer transfer window instead of going back to Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho and his inconsistent English journey
Jadon Sancho has endured a topsy-turvy ride since returning to England by joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. The 25-year-old was among the most highly sought-after players in the market when the Red Devils secured his services nearly four years ago. However, he blew hot and cold in his first few campaigns with Manchester United before Erik ten Hag froze him out due to a bust-up.
Sancho resurrected his stuttering fortunes in the second half of the 2023/24 season before Chelsea sealed a season-long loan deal last summer. The English international was not as consistent as he would have liked, managing only five goals and ten assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. However, he may have done enough to seal a permanent move to Chelsea.
What next?
Chelsea’s interest in sealing a permanent move for Jadon Sancho is surprising. Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez are on the verge of arriving at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2025/26 season. In addition, Jamie Gittens is a top target for Chelsea this summer.
Interestingly, recent reports have claimed that Chelsea may use Sancho in the deal to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. However, the Blues want the Manchester United flop to accept reduced wages before sealing a permanent deal worth £25 million.
With Sancho proclaiming that he will not return to Manchester United after Chelsea’s triumphant UEFA Europa Conference League final against Real Betis, it will not be surprising to see him accepting Chelsea’s terms. So, it will be interesting to see if he ends his Manchester United misery in the coming weeks.
