Wrexham in talks to sign Ben Davies

Newly promoted Championship outfit Wrexham are in talks to sign Tottenham defender Ben Davies on a free transfer.

Wrexham have big plans for the summer having secured a promotion to the Championship. They want to undergo a massive squad overhaul to ensure they have enough quality to not only survive in the English second division but also try and push for promotion to the top flight.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Red Dragons are interested in acquiring the services of Ben Davies and are already in talks to get a deal over the line. The Welsh international could be available for free this summer and Wrexham are trying everything in their power to get a deal over the line.

Davies has been a part of the Tottenham setup since 2014 when he joined them from Swansea. He has been an integral part of their first team over the years but of late, he has been more of a squad player.

His current deal at the North London club runs out in a few weeks and clubs are already gearing up to sign the 32-year-old on a potential free transfer. However, he could still end up penning a new deal at Spurs having featured in a total of 28 matches during the 2024/25 campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

But before he makes a decision, the Welsh international will surely listen to all the offers at his disposal. Wrexham are one of the clubs, who are looking to try and lure him to Racecourse.

The Red Dragons have done wonders since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed a takeover back in 2021. They have earned three back-to-back promotions and are now planning a major overhaul to help them make it four in a row.

Their priority is to ensure they have enough quality to survive in the Championship. They have already let go of some of the players who are no longer in their plans and are now looking to go big in the summer.

They want to bring in experience as well as quality and have their eyes on Davies, who still has a few good years left in him. He could prove to be a valuable addition to their squad given the amount of top-flight experience he has and the fact that he can play as a left-back as well as in the heart of the defence.

The Championship outfit are in talks with his representatives but it certainly won’t be easy to get a deal over the line as Davies will have multiple offers to continue in the Premier League and could even choose to stay at Spurs.
