Liverpool establish contact to sign Hugo Ekitike through Arne Slot, Michael Edwards
Liverpool have established contact with Hugo Ekitike over a potential move with Eintracht Frankfurt demanding at least €100 million for the forward.
According to Floria Plettenberg, Liverpool have established contact with Hugo Ekitike over a potential move in the summer. The Reds are looking for a new striker to improve their attacking options, as Arne Slot and Michael Edwards are keen to land the Eintracht Frankfurt man, who is currently valued at around €100 million.
There is a lot of talk about Liverpool signing a new striker in the summer as Arne Slot is ready to move on from Darwin Nunez. The Premier League champions had sights on Alexander Isak, but the Swede’s price tag is rather prohibitive, while Newcastle United’s entry into next season’s Champions League will make any move rather impossible.
There have been other names mentioned with Hugo Ekitike one of the options under consideration. The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has taken on a central role this season following Omar Marmoush’s departure to Manchester City in the January window.
Liverpool are not alone in the race, as Chelsea also views Ekitike as a priority signing in the summer. The Blues have been linked with other names such as Liam Delap as well as Viktor Gyokeres among others, as they could be willing to pay a huge fee to sign the Frankfurt man.
Frankfurt CEO, Marcus Krosche is adamant on achieving at least €100 million for the striker who has 34 goals and assists this season, as Liverpool are now seen as the front-runner. The Reds have made contact with the player’s camp, with the suggestion that manager Arne Slot and Michael Edwards are all keen to get the deal done with Frankfurt.
Liverpool making big summer plans
Liverpool showing plenty of ambitions in the market as they have already secured Jeremy Frimpong and are close to signing Milos Kerkez to strengthen their full-back areas. Florian Wirtz is also close to signing for the club, as Arne Slot is now looking to add a reliable striker.
With the €100 million price tag hanging on Ekitike, there might be some complications, as Liverpool would be eager to bring that price tag down considerably with negotiations. It remains to be seen whether the 34 G/A Frenchman prefers the Reds as he will have a lot of options to consider in the summer, especially with Chelsea likely to pose as Liverpool’s biggest threat in the race.
