Newcastle United ready to sell Joe Willock amid Crystal Palace, Fulham links
Newcastle United will entertain bids to sell 25-year-old English midfielder Joe Willock in the summer transfer window amid his links with Crystal Palace and Fulham.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Joe Willock faces an uncertain future at Newcastle United heading into the summer transfer window. The Magpies are ready to cash in on the English midfielder amid his falling stock in the last two seasons. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Fulham are keen on signing the former Arsenal midfielder ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Joe Willock and his tumbling stock
Joe Willock has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Newcastle United from Arsenal. The Tyneside outfit initially signed the Englishman on loan in February 2021 before completing a permanent move in a deal worth £25 million in the subsequent summer transfer window.
While the 25-year-old was exceptional during his loan spell with Newcastle United, he has only shown flashes of brilliance since sealing a permanent deal. Willock’s game time has dwindled this season, not even completing 1,500 minutes of game time across 39 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals and two assists.
However, the English midfielder’s stock in the market remains high, with several Premier League clubs keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. A return to London might be on the cards for the Newcastle United midfielder, with Crystal Palace and Fulham vying for his signature.
London return on the horizon?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Joe Willock is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Will Hughes and Adam Wharton. So, the Newcastle United midfielder is a viable target for Crystal Palace.
As for Fulham, Andreas Pereira faces an uncertain future at the West London club heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Cottagers need a new midfielder, with the 25-year-old Englishman being an option worth considering. However, it is unclear how much Newcastle United will demand to part ways with the struggling midfielder.
The Tyneside outfit coughed up £25 million to seal the permanent deal for Willock nearly four years ago. So, with two years remaining on the English midfielder’s contract, a sizeable price may be on the cards amid his links with Crystal Palace and Fulham. Interestingly, Newcastle United did not want to cash in on Willock in the winter transfer window but will entertain bids this summer.
