Official | LFP launch call for bids for Ligue 1 broadcasting rights

The LFP have today announced a call for bids for the broadcasting rights for Ligue 1. Broadcasters are bidding to procure the rights to broadcast France’s top flight from 2027 until 2032.

The league is currently broadcast by LFP-owned Ligue 1 Plus. Whilst it has been an editorial success, it has not been a financial success. Clubs have struggled for revenue and many, even those competing at the top and in European competition, are living precariously. It was the will of the clubs that a new broadcaster was sought.

There is now also a more favourable context, with a recent change in legislation allowing exclusivity. This was not previously the case. LFP president Vincent Labrune recently said that multiple broadcasters had shown concrete interest in procuring the rights. The call for bids, which begins today, will run until 3rd December. Should there be a small gap between the best offers, there is the possibility of a second round of bidding.
