Hansi Flick responds to Gavi’s lack of Barcelona minutes

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this weekend spoken out on the ongoing lack of game-time being afforded to midfield star Gavi. This comes fresh off the Spaniard’s latest fruitless outing on Saturday.

Barca were of course back in action yesterday evening, welcoming Deportivo Alavés to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged dominant victors, climbing back to the top of the table courtesy of a 6-1 romp.

For the aforementioned Gavi, though, it proved to be another disappointing outing from an individual standpoint.

Despite Barca’s hectic schedule at present, and the ongoing personnel problems in the Catalans’ ranks, the 22-year-old was not afforded a single minute of playing time.

Speaking to the media post-match, Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on Gavi’s difficult situation. And the German tactician went on to explain:

“We have to keep making changes and sometimes the situation isn’t the same as before the match. We had Rodri, Frenkie, Fermín… There were several changes to be made.”
