Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Friday confirmed that the club are ready to dip into the transfer market following the turn of the year, if a realistic opportunity presents itself.

Recent weeks have of course seen the glaring lack of depth in one area of Barcelona’s squad laid bare for all to see. Owing to an early-season injury crisis at the back, the Blaugrana have been left with just four senior defenders to choose from.

Ahead of the winter transfer window, a whole host of names from across the continent have in turn been tipped to take their talents to Catalunya’s capital.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media this week, the aforementioned Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on the prospect of fresh blood arriving in his squad this January.

And Barca’s headmaster refused to rule out the possibility, in confirming:

“If we need a signing, we might do it. We’re open to signing anyone who can help improve the team, but we’ll see what happens.”
