Man United pair ruled out of Atlético Madrid clash

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid will not be forced to contend with the talents of a pair of important members of the first-team setup at Manchester United in the upcoming meeting between the sides.

This comes amid confirmation that both Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have been ruled out of the fixture.

One of the headline clashes of the upcoming gameweek in the Champions League is set to play out at the Metropolitano on Tuesday night. The matchup in question will see the aforementioned Atlético play host to English heavyweights Manchester United.

The two clubs head into proceedings amid contrasting spells of form, with the former fresh off four successive wins, and the latter having not managed a single victory in their last four.

And as alluded to above, on the eve of the clash, United’s hopes of getting things back on track in Spain’s capital tomorrow have been dealt a further setback.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Monday, Red Devils boss Michael Carrick confirmed that both defender Luke Shaw and midfielder Kobbie Mainoo have picked up injuries:

“They didn’t travel due to physical issues.”

🚨❌ Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw are both OUT of Manchester United squad to face Atlético Madrid.

“They didn’t travel due to physical issues”, confirms Michael Carrick.
