Hansi Flick admits Barcelona summer signing has been ‘a bit of a surprise’
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has early this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the early efforts of Gabriel Jesus in the club’s colours.
This of course comes fresh off another productive outing for the Brazilian over the weekend.
With Raphinha ruled out for Barcelona’s post-international break return to action on Saturday, Jesus was afforded his very first start for the club in a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.
And en route to an eventual 3-0 triumph, the former Arsenal man played a starring role, notching Barca’s 2nd of the clash courtesy of a clever run and finish.
Despite limited playing time since his summer arrival, Jesus, in turn, has now found the net three times for the Blaugrana.
And one individual who has been left ‘surprised’ by the qualities boasted by his new centre-forward comes in the form of the aforementioned Hansi Flick. Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Monday, Barca’s headmaster admitted:
“He’s been a bit of a surprise. He’s a fantastic player with a top attitude. He’s ready to play. We’re very happy with him.”
