Fulham target Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal set for Rennes contract extension
Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal (20), a target for Fulham over the summer, is set to sign a contract extension at formative club Stade Rennais, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Ait Boudlal started the season partnering Charlie Cresswell at centre-back, however, perhaps distracted by significant interest from Fulham, his performances were significantly below the levels that he showed during the second half of last season. Anthony Rouault has since earned game time at Roazhon Park. Franck Haise was openly critical of the Moroccan defender after his error-strewn performances. However, in a show of faith in Ait Boudlal, the Moroccan is set for a contract extension.
The Moroccan’s current deal runs until 2028. The length of his new deal, set to be signed in the coming days, has yet to be revealed. After Jérémy Jacquet, who joined Liverpool in the summer, Ait Boudlal is seen as one of the most promising defenders to have graduated from Les Rennais’ prestigious academy in recent years.
