Marseille’s injury concerns deepen as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg comes off in Denmark game
Olympique de Marseille have suffered yet another injury blow, this time for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who was forced off early in Denmark’s win over Wales on Sunday night.
It hasn’t been a good international window for Marseille, who have lost several players to injury. Derek Cornelius, injured while away with the Canada national team, is not expected to feature again in 2026 after sustaining a hip injury. Amine Gouiri and Himad Abdellli also sustained injuries, although none are expected to keep them out of the game against ESTAC Troyes next weekend.
Hojbjerg is the latest to sustain an injury. He came off after just ten minutes, seemingly with a thigh injury. His absence would be a miss for Marseille, who lack options in midfield. There is hope that Tochukwu Nnadi could be fit to return to play next weekend, although Geoffrey Kondogbia has still yet to return. It could, therefore, be a young and inexperienced pivot that starts against L’ESTAC, depending on the severity of the injury that Hojbjerg sustained on Sunday.
