Felize Mazzu chosen to lead the PSG project in the Challenger Pro League
Felice Mazzu, just a few weeks after being sacked by OH Leuven, has found a new job. The former Charleroi, Sint Truiden and Union St Gilloise head coach is returning to the second tier for the first time since helping Union make their return to the top flight. He will be taking over at Eupen, a club now linked to PSG through ownership and the only team from the German speaking part of Belgium in the top two flights. Eupen had been a top flight team until recently, suffering relegation in 2024.
Mazzu has clearly been brought in by Eupen to try and help them make their return to the top flight. Mazzu has struggled to replicate the magic he had while at Union in any of his previous jobs in the top flight, so it felt only natural that if he wanted to remain a head coach in Belgium, a return to the second tier would be one of the only ways to make that happen. Through their Qatari owners, Eupen have links to French club PSG, with a number of young players having spent time on loan in Belgium due to the relationship between the two sides. For example, 19-year-old defender Yoram Zague spent a season on loan from PSG with Eupen last season.
