Predicted Manchester United lineup against Brentford: Maguire to return; Amad in for Sesko

Harry Maguire will return to the Manchester United starting lineup when they welcome Brentford to Old Trafford on Monday.

Manchester United will aim to take a step closer to securing a spot in the Premier League top five when they host Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night. Michael Carrick has received a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Harry Maguire is finally available after serving a two-match suspension, which forced him to miss over a month of action. However, Lisandro Martinez remains unavailable, as his three-game ban continues this week.

While Patrick Dorgu is closing in on returning from a hamstring issue, Monday’s fixture has come too soon for him. However, Leny Yoro (unspecified) and Matthijs de Ligt (lower back) remain on the sidelines. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Carrick provided fitness updates on Dorgu and Yoro.

The Manchester United head coach said, “To be honest, everything’s alright, as it was couple of knocks and niggles a little bit, coming out of the game, that you’d expect. Patrick [Chinazaekpere Dorgu] is working his way to being back.”

“He’s certainly making good progress and back closer to training with us, which is positive, so that’s good news. We’re still working on [Leny]. So, there’s a possibility, there’s a possibility, but at this stage, it’s not 100 per cent sure.”

In a separate interview with club media, Carrick provided a further update on Dorgu. The Manchester United boss said, “Patrick’s looking to get back closer to the group in a very small part, which is fantastic, because he’s worked so hard over a period of time now. So it’ll be good to have him back in and around the group within the next week or so.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Brentford on Monday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven, and Luke Shaw.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro in the double pivot. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no.10 role, with Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo being the two wide attackers. Finally, Bryan Mbeumo will lead the line for the home side against Brentford. So, Benjamin Sesko will be a backup option on the bench for the Red Devils.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Heaven, Maguire, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo
