Bryan Mbeumo set to join Manchester United, medical scheduled
Manchester United are on the verge of signing Bryan Mbeumo after agreeing a £71 million fee, including add-ons, following protracted negotiations.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United are set to make their second summer signing, after they found an agreement with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroonian attacker had made his choice to join the Old Trafford giants many weeks ago, and now he’s all set for a medical and to complete other formalities.
Manchester United fans were growing disgruntled at the protracted negotiations for Bryan Mbeumo, but now they can breathe easy. The Red Devils have found an agreement with Brentford for the attacker, thus ending weeks of uncertainty.
Manchester United were growing frustrated, but never lost track of the deal, as they were confident of landing the attacker. Mbeumo had his most productive season in the English top flight with 20 goals and 8 assists last term. He had insisted on joining the Red Devils while rejecting the overtures from other sides like Newcastle United and Tottenham.
Hence, there was only one direction of travel for the attacker, with the 25-year-old now inching closer to his dream move to Old Trafford. Manchester United had made a third bid to convince Brentford, and it appears their £65 million plus £7 million in add-ons offer has done it’s job.
The payment terms are likely to fit into Manchester United’s plans, as the player is now set for his medicals, possibly during the weekend. With the Red Devils making another summer signing, this one will have the fans up on their feet, as the Cameroonian will likely bring a new level of excitement to Old Trafford.
Manchester United to target a striker next
Manchester United will waste no time in getting on their bike for further reinforcements. There are some key areas that Ruben Amorim wants to address in the squad, with a striker seen as a priority for the club. The Red Devils will still need to offload Rasmus Hojlund and other unwanted stars to make space for new signings, but they are adamant about landing a new frontman.
Some names are being discussed, although Manchester United have already suffered setbacks in the chase of players like Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres. The identity of the new striker remains unknown, as Amorim will want someone better than his current options.
