Predicted Manchester United lineup against Tottenham: Rashford to start; Baleba in contention

Marcus Rashford should be fit enough to start for Manchester United when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways and get their Premier League campaign back on track when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Saturday evening. Michael Carrick has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Noussair Mazraoui (lower back) and Patrick Dorgu (hamstring) picked up their respective injuries during the international break, and they will not be fit enough to take on Tottenham. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte (ACL) remains a long-term absentee, while Benjamin Sesko (shin) remains in the treatment room due to his persistent problem.

Carrick has also been sweating over Marcus Rashford’s fitness, while Amad Diallo (calf) and Matthijs de Ligt (lower back) face late fitness tests to determine their availability. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Carrick provided fitness updates on Mazraoui, Dorgu, de Ligt, Amad, Carlos Baleba, and Rashford.

The Manchester United head coach said, “It’s been a long time since we last sat here. Yeah, it’s a little bit mixed really, through the internationals. Patrick came off and it looks like he will be out for probably a number of weeks. Nous came off and took a knock. He’s not quite right yet, so we’ll see how he is.”

“Where else are we at? Carlos is improving, he’s trained a lot and is improving. Amad has done a little bit of training, Marcus has done a little bit of training, Kobbie has done a little bit of training. So it’s a little bit mixed really. Ben is further away, with the issue he has got. He won’t be ready.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans in the double pivot, with Carlos Baleba being a backup option on the bench. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo being the two wide attackers. Finally, Matheus Cunha will lead the line for the home side against Tottenham this weekend.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Tielemans, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha
