José Mourinho: Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta treatment ‘would not happen at Real Madrid’

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has revealed his take that the time and patience afforded to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal would never be forthcoming for a manager in his own position.

Spanish tactician Arteta is for his part fresh off putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract in north London.

Now considered one of the leading managers in world football, the ex-midfielder was rewarded for his ongoing efforts with fresh terms through the summer of 2030.

Arteta of course brought an end to Arsenal’s long-term wait for Premier League glory last season, also guiding the Gunners to the finale of the Champions League.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Friday, the aforementioned José Mourinho was therefore asked for his take on the situation in the dugout at The Emirates.

And the Portuguese’s response proved a fascinating one, as follows:

“Yesterday, I read something interesting that would not happen at Real Madrid.

”Mikel Arteta renewed his contract and said something like ‘we are still starting’ and ‘this is just the beginning’ and he has been there for years.

”The demands here are just different.”
