NBA icon becomes shareholder at Atlético Madrid
La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this week received investment courtesy of one of the most recognisable names in the world of basketball.
This comes amid confirmation that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, often referred to as ‘SGA’, has become a shareholder at the Metropolitano.
For those not familiar with his name, Gilgeous-Alexander is a Canadian basketball player, who currently plies his trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 28-year-old is the reigning two-time NBA ‘MVP’, an award handed to the player considered the very best in the association for the previous season.
As alluded to above, though, Gilgeous-Alexander’s sporting interests evidently span well beyond the confines of the world of basketball.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of La Liga heavyweights Atlético Madrid:
‘Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bets on Atlético de Madrid and joins as an investor in our club.
“I am excited to officially join the group of shareholders of Atlético de Madrid. This is a club with a long history at the top of European football, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of its future,” declared the winner of two consecutive MVP awards and NBA champion.’
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander apuesta por el Atlético de Madrid y se incorpora como inversor de nuestro club ❤️🤍
