Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has this week revealed the identity of the German player whom, if afforded the chance, he would pry away for La Roja.

Spain are of course currently considered by some way the very best team in international football.

After another spectacular summer in North America, De la Fuente’s troops added the title of world champions to their existing status as champions of Europe.

Spain’s squad boasts a whole host of the very best players in the game at present, from Pau Cubarsí and Marc Cucurella at the back, to Rodri and Pedri in midfield, and Lamine Yamal going forward.

And yet, as alluded to above, if afforded the chance, the country’s headmaster would love the opportunity to directly watch over the talents of none other than Florian Wirtz.

Asked by German outlet BILD on Wednesday which member of Jürgen Klopp’s Die Mannschaft setup he would most like to have at his disposal, Luis de la Fuente explained:

“Florian Wirtz! Incredible player. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a Spanish passport. I really like the way he plays.”
