Real Sociedad target former Lens defender Malang Sarr, Marseille make enquiry
Real Sociedad are attempting a move to sign former RC Lens defender Malang Sarr (27), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
After two years at Lens, Sarr opted to leave the club at the end of the season. In his second and final season, the former Chelsea centre-back was a pillar of Les Sang et Or’s defence as the club finished second in Ligue 1 and won the Coupe de France for the first time in their history.
However, despite qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League, Sarr opted against renewing his contract with the Ligue 1 club. As a result, his departure was confirmed by the club at the end of June. He is now on the search for a new club.
Real Sociedad have now emerged as a contender for the former France youth international’s signature, Foot Mercato understands. The publication understands that Olympique de Marseille have also made enquiries about Sarr.
