Jonathan Fischer set for Metz exit amid interest from English and Scottish clubs
Jonathan Fischer (24) is set to leave FC Metz at the end of the season, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Former Denmark youth international Fischer joined Metz last summer in a €3m deal, however, he could be set to depart just 12 months later. Having begun the season as the No.1 for Les Grenats, he lost his place in the team at the end of March and was benched for seven consecutive Ligue 1 games. He came back in for the final game of the season, a 0-0 draw against OGC Nice.
When he joined, Fischer signed a four-year deal with Metz. His contract with the club runs until 2029, but following the club’s return to Ligue 2, he is now expected to depart during the current transfer window. Foot Mercato understands that there is interest from clubs in England, Scotland, and Italy. The identities of the interested parties have not been revealed.
