Rennes’ Albert Grønbæk close to a permanent move to Hamburg
Stade Rennais’ Albert Grønbæk (25) is reportedly on the verge of signing a permanent deal with Hamburger SV, according to Ouest-France.
On loan to the German club from their Breton counterparts to play the second half of the season, the Dane is expected to be the subject of a transfer worth around €6 million, bonus included. With HSV, he has played seven Bundesliga matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists, despite arriving injured last January.
An end to his spell in France was expected for Grønbæk, who was signed in the summer of 2024 but never managed to adapt to Ligue 1. For Rennes, who will compete in the Europa League next season, the departure of the Risskov-born player is a sound financial move, given that his contract ran until 2029 and he was on a substantial salary.
In total, the Danish international (eight caps, one goal) made 18 appearances for SRFC, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
