‘A boring team that did nothing but defend’ – Sir Alex Ferguson rips into Arsenal in congratulatory message to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson congratulated PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi after Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens went back-to-back in the Champions League. A year after their 5-0 dismantling of Inter Milan in Munich, PSG went the distance in Budapest against Arsenal. Ousmane Dembélé cancelled out Kai Havertz’s early opener, and the Ligue 1 champions won the penalty shoot-out after both Eberechi Eze and Gabriel went off target.

PSG now have won as many Champions League titles as Ferguson did with the Red Devils. The former Manchester United manager also took the opportunity to criticise PSG’s opponents on Saturday. As expected, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners went above and beyond to frustrate PSG with a near-perfect defensive display that was not at all to Ferguson’s liking.

L’Equipe reports that the Scot sent the following message to Al-Khelaïfi: “Nasser, this is Alex Ferguson. Well done, it was a tough night for you, but you played against a boring team that did nothing but defend. Enjoy your holidays, you deserve it.”

Ferguson’s comments echo those of João Neves, who said that PSG were the only team “willing to play“ a Champions League final.
