Toulouse confirm impending Mark McKenzie exit

Toulouse FC president Olivier Cloarec has confirmed that Mark McKenzie (27) is highly likely to leave the club in January and return to his native USA.

It was reported by The Athletic during the transfer window that a return to Philadelphia Union was a possibility for the centre-back. The USMNT international began his career with the club. McKenzie joined Toulouse back in 2024 and has become a key player and that remains the case, even if his days at the club look to be numbered.

Cloarec, in a press conference transcribed by L’Équipe, said that the defender’s transfer was “in process and will be completed in January.” McKenzie, therefore, looks almost certain to leave the club in just a few months’ time.

Viktor Bezhani, Le TéFéCé’s sporting director, has confirmed that, should McKenzie leave, as is planned, then the club will look to recruit another centre-back in January. Over the summer, Toulouse also lost Charlie Cresswell to Stade Rennais, whilst Djibril Sidibé also left on a free transfer.
