Report – Barcelona Step Up Pursuit of Juventus Wingback
La Liga champions Barcelona have reportedly intensified their pursuit of Juventus wingback Andrea Cambiaso. According to Calciomercato, talks between the clubs are gaining momentum, with the Italian star expected to become Los Blaugranas’ second summer signing.
Barcelona announced the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United earlier this morning. Indeed, the 25-year-old has signed a multi-year contract at Camp Nou, with the Spanish giants splashing out around £70 million to complete the transfer (via The Sun).
Despite struggling with major financial issues over the past few years, Hansi Flick’s charges have no intention of taking their foot off the gas. Instead, they have already made contact with Juventus over Cambiaso’s move to the Iberian Peninsula.
However, the former Genoa defender won’t come cheap. Juventus have slapped a massive €50 million price tag on their star and have no interest in lowering their demands. Therefore, Barcelona will have to either meet the Turin heavyweights’ valuation or walk away.
Barcelona & Juventus in Talks for Andrea Cambiaso
Formerly linked with a mega-money move to Manchester City, Cambiaso has endured a significant drop-off this season. Despite amassing three goals and four assists across 36 Serie A appearances, the 26-year-old has often struggled for consistency.
As such, Juventus might be willing to ‘sacrifice’ their stalwart to make up for the missing UEFA Champions League prize money. However, they’ve already made it clear that they have no intention to budge on their valuation of the Italian wingback.
Whether Barcelona can match Juventus’ demands remains questionable. Yet, with Flick requesting Cambiaso’s arrival, the Catalans appear determined to push ahead with negotiations.
