Kylian Mbappé named Real Madrid’s Player of the Season

Kylian Mbappé (27) has been named Real Madrid’s Player of the Season, the Spanish club announced on Wednesday.

Having already won the award at the end of the 2024–25 season, the Frenchman has repeated the feat in his second campaign with La Casa Blanca. Top scorer in the Spanish league with 25 goals to his name, Mbappé is also the top scorer of the season in the Champions League, where he has netted 15 goals. Across all competitions, the Paris-born player has thus proved decisive on 49 occasions (42 goals and seven assists) in 44 matches.

An individual success that inevitably stands in stark contrast to Real Madrid’s repeated collective failures over the past two years. Selected by Didier Deschamps for the 2026 World Cup, Mbappé will now have the opportunity to add another World Cup trophy to his collection – his second after 2018 – as he is now just four goals away from becoming the competition’s all-time leading scorer.
