AS Monaco to part ways with Sébastien Pocognoli
AS Monaco have decided to part ways with Belgian head coach Sébastien Pocognoli, according to Nice-Matin. Pocognoli joined the Principality club early into the previous season as Monaco dismissed Adi Hütter back in October. Pocognoli has won 16 of the 38 games he’s overseen from the bench. AS Monaco were recently right in the race for Champions League football next season, but they crumbled in the run-in with back-to-back losses against Lille OSC and Strasbourg.
AS Monaco have qualified for the Conference League play-off, courtesy of Lens’ Coupe de France win, but this chance to remain in Europe has not convinced Les Monégasques that Pocognoli was the right man to lead the club forward.
Foot Mercato reports that Pocognoli may not be the only one to leave AS Monaco in the coming days as the club’s owners are planning a reshuffle. Departing Lille head coach Bruno Genesio has reportedly been contacted to replace the former Brighton defender. Genesio is also a target for both Marseille and Paris FC.
